About

Rich Beams

I have spent 28 years building software that businesses run on. Now I help companies work out where AI actually pays, build it, and keep the cost of running it under control.

I started at Accenture in 1997 as a systems consultant, building enablement software for an SAP R/3 implementation that supported more than 5,000 end users. That first job set the pattern for everything since: the technology was the easy half, and getting thousands of people to actually work differently was the real project.

Since then I have founded four technology companies and delivered work for roughly 70 clients. Real estate transaction software used by 200+ title insurance companies. A CRM platform running 500+ user accounts across multiple time zones, with VoIP calling built in. Two decades of business process automation, B2B integration between systems that were never designed to talk to each other, and enterprise security audits.

In December 2025 I started AI Dev Accelerator to answer a specific question: how much can one experienced engineer actually do with modern AI tooling? The answer so far is five substantial systems and two concepts in eight months, along with the accelerator foundation underneath them: enterprise authentication with MFA, automated billing, role-based access control, and strict tenant isolation.

Doing that taught me where AI genuinely compresses work and where it quietly creates new problems. Which is the thing worth paying me for. I will tell you when a use case is not worth building, and I will tell you when your data is not ready, because I would rather lose the project than deliver something that falls over in month six.

How I work

  • You get me. No delivery team, no juniors inheriting the work after the pitch.
  • Fixed fees where possible. The audit and the sprint are fixed scope and fixed price, so the risk of overrun is mine.
  • Straight answers. If something will not hold at scale, you hear it while it is still cheap to change.
  • Cost discipline. I match each workload to the cheapest model that does the job properly, rather than sending everything to a frontier model by reflex.
  • Small number of clients. A handful at a time, so the work gets real attention.
